New research from Oxford University has revealed that it can be difficult to accurately diagnose the severity of solar radiation.
Researchers from the Department of Radiology at Oxford University examined data from nearly 1.2 million patients who were treated in the UK for sunburn and found that patients with severe sunburn were almost 50 per cent more likely to be diagnosed with an underlying cancer.
The researchers also found that this risk is more severe in older people and women.
